Promoting Mental Wellness
As reported in this article by NancyonNorwalk (using TNP's survey data), mental health is a crisis in Norwalk. That's why The Norwalk Partnership, Norwalk ACTS, and NCC are hosting "NorWALK for Mental Health" along with a "Check In" Wellness Fair where many community organizations are providing fun, family-friendly activities for all ages. We'll have:
-Music, art, laughter yoga, door prizes, and the EverybodyEatz van.
-Mental health booths where you can practice coping skills, "paint your heart out," get a "check-up from the neck up," and meet friendly people who can answer your mental health questions.
-Prevention booths where you can check out our alcohol goggles, pick up Liquor Stickers or Narcan, learn about suicide prevention, and get parenting resources.
-Griffin Health offering vaccines.
-People sharing their personal mental health journeys, and elected officials sharing their response.
-The state's "Change the Script" behavioral health resource van.
-And the opportunity to walk for the cause! We'll have a short 1.5 mile walk to create visibility of how much the cause of mental health means to all of us.
So everyone, please join us on the Norwalk Green with your family, friends or co-workers, because we ALL need to take care of our mental health! Wear green or purple (the mental health colors). Maybe even make a team t-shirt!
DETAILS: Saturday, May 21st on the Norwalk Green, 8 Park Street, from 9am-11:30am.
"Check-In" Wellness Fair runs the whole time.
