Do YOU know how to recognize and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders? This online training allows anyone (aged 16+) to be certified as a mental health first aider. Only $25 to cover materials cost. 6.5 hours of training (2 hours pre-work, 4.5 hour class online)

About the event
Do YOU know how to recognize and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders? This online certification training covers:
- Signs and symptoms of mental illness
- Signs and symptoms of substance use
- How to interact with a person in crisis
- How to connect the person with help
- NEW: How to administer naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose
The course will teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan:
- Assess for risk of suicide
- Listen nonjudgmentally
- Give reassurance and information
- Encourage appropriate professional help
- Encourage self-help and other support strategies
